BioBTX collaborates with Teijin Aramid in the InRep project. BioBTX makes aromatics from waste plastics. These aromatics, benzene, toluene and xelene, and they are converted into usable building blocks by the Hanze University of Applied Sciences (André Heeres). Bert Gebben Group Head R&D at Teijin Aramid explains how the molecules of BTX are building blocks for the aramid fibers they make. These fibers are processed in high-quality applications for, among other things, the sails of the Volvo Ocean Racer.
