New Energy Academy – Part of New Energy Coalition

New Energy Academy is part of New Energy Coalition, a group of research and educational institutions and private and public organisations that play a key role in the energy transition. The aim of New Energy Coalition is to bring together researchers, entrepreneurs and policymakers to boost innovation, achieve breakthroughs in technology and knowledge and help change people’s mindset and behaviour with regard to the energy transition.

We have our base in the Northern Netherlands but occupy a central place in a national and international energy network. Thanks to our strategic position, we are able to identify and seize opportunities and create new initiatives. We have partners in education, business and also in government, so we can make policymakers aware of innovations and opportunities in the energy sector.

We connect parties to realise the breakthroughs that are necessary for the energy transition to succeed. We encourage joint activities and with our organisational strength we are able to take energy projects forward.

The founding partners of New Energy Coalition are University of Groningen, Hanze University of Applied Sciences, NAM, Energie Beheer Nederland (EBN), Gasunie and GasTerra. In addition, we have a number of key strategic partners.

The Energy Academy Europe building

New Energy Coalition and New Energy Academy have their home in the Energy Academy Europe building, one of the most sustainable buildings in the Netherlands.

The Energy Academy Europe building, located on the Zernike Campus in Groningen, provides an inspiring environment where industry, education and academia come together to advance the energy transition. The unique design demonstrates how a building can make optimum use of the natural elements earth, water, air and sunlight as a primary source of energy. The building has a BREEAM rating of “Outstanding”, which sets extremely high standards for sustainability and energy consumption.
