The break-out session will last for an hour and during that time you will work on assignment together with 5 peers and with guidance of one of the experts.

During your registration you can choose if you want to join the assignment in break-out sessions or if you want to sign up for just the informative part of the Masterclass. We only have 24 places for the assignment, so do hurry. First come, first serve.

Speakers

Paul Peeters
Paul Peeters is Professor Sustainable transport for tourism at the Breda university of Applied Sciences since 2002. His main research topics are environmental impacts of tourism transport and specifically the impact of tourism on climate change. Air transport causes more than half of all climatic impacts of tourism, and as Paul has a degree in aircraft engineering, he also explores technical solutions to aviation’s climate problem.

Nick Lurkin
Nick Lurkin is a senior environmental and climate advisor at the Royal Association of Dutch Shipowners (KVNR). The KVNR represents 90% of Dutch ships and has high ambitions in terms of the environment and climate. Nick therefore sees it as a nice challenge to convert the bad image of shipping into a positive one by bringing emission-free ships into service as soon as possible.

Richard Smokers
Richard Smokers is principal advisor at TNO’s Traffic & Transport unit. Since 1992 he has been involved in policy-supporting research and studies in the field of sustainable mobility and logistics on behalf of, among others, ministries and local authorities, the European Commission and companies.
