The energy transition is one of the largest transitions ever worldwide. The goal has been set to run entirely on sustainable energy by 2050 and to be as CO2-neutral as possible. How do we get there? This lecture will help you understand the challenges and complexity of transitioning to an affordable, sustainable, and secure energy system. What does the energy transition entails on a global level? You will learn that the energy transition is not only about environmental sustainability, but also about energy equity and energy security, the three dimensions that are known as the Energy Trilemma.
